Saratoga County Man Sentenced in Wife’s Ax Murder
A Hadley man was sentenced Friday in the ax murder of his wife.
According to the Times Union, Michael C. Norton was sentenced to 20 years to life in the murder of Sherry Norton. Norton pled not guilty back in October to striking his wife in the back of the head with an ax on the night of May 2-3. A neighbor had found her dead in the living room of the 7 Third Ave. home in Hadley and called 911. Police found Michael Hadley in the home upon their arrival. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and State Police Forensic Identification Unit conducted the investigation and determined that he had "brutally killed his wife".
Norton told reporters back in May when he plead not guilty: "I love my wife. I didn't mean it to happen." Saratoga County Judge James Murphy was said to have "Lit into Michael C. Norton for the killing" at the sentencing.
