If we are to believe the weather forecast for this week, snow is on the way. This could finally be a good start toward snowmobile season. If you just can't wait why don't you just get in your truck and hit the trails? Just kidding! Nobody would do that, right? Wrong!

On Sunday January 2nd it appears that a couple of truck owners thought it would be a good idea to head to  Featherstonhaugh State Forest and hit the snowmobile trails, WITH THEIR TRUCKS!

The new year at Central Dispatch started with a call about vehicles off-roading on New York state property near Duanesburg. According to New York Department of Environmental Conservation, Forest Ranger Mitchell responded to the area and met with New York State Police. What they found wasn't just one stuck truck but 2 stuck trucks!

The Troopers, Ranger and truck owners made their way to the vehicles that got stuck on a snowmobile trail. Troopers requested a tow, which required more than three hours of work and a skid steer with a recovery winch to remove the vehicles. Ranger Mitchell issued tickets to both drivers related to motor vehicle use on State lands

  • "I hope they ticketed them and have to pay for the damage" - Tammy K.
  • "They need to be brought back and forced to fix it themselves" - Joey M.
  • "I'm not gonna lie. I've been that guy who's wheeled where I wasn't supposed to not knowing I couldn't be there. And gladly owned my mistake and cleaned up my mess instead of fines." - Brenden C.
