Moose Sighting Brings Excitement To Schroon Lake Community
Moose spotted trotting along the roadway near Schroon Lake in Essex County, New York. Take a look at the video below. On one hand you might be saying, yeah, big deal. On the other hand you must realize just how rare a moose sighting is.
Moose tend to keep to themselves but every once and a while you will hear a story about a moose traveling through someone's backyard or the parking lot at work. In this case the moose was not too far from a Dollar General store. Scroll down to see the New York spots where you are most likely to see moose.

As I was surfing through the Internet Sunday afternoon I happened to find a video of a moose on what looks like Route 9 in Schroon. The 2 women in the car were as excited as I would be to spot a moose on a Sunday drive.
Some of the comments in the social media post suggest others spotted the same moose and that there is video of it swimming in Schroon Lake. A few guesses suggest the moose was swimming to/from Clark's Island. Here's the video.
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), as of 2018, there are between 600 and 700 moose in our state. That sounds like a decent number but not when you consider that we have nearly 40 million acres of land for them to roam.
The DEC, indicates the majority of moose sightings have occurred in the Adirondacks. Adirondacks.com reports that there are approximately 400 moose roaming the woods in that region.
Adirondacks.com goes on to say that Vermontville, NY along Route 3 and Meacham Lake along Route 30 are 2 of the best places to find moose. Click HERE to see more great locations to explore.
