Several Capital Region Towns Report Needles in Candy!

We have all heard the stories of a needle or a pin hidden inside your kids Halloween candy but for some reason I didn't think it ever really happened. Well, it has happened right here in the Capital Region.

According to CBS6 Albany, police have confirmed, a 14-year-old 'Trick-Or-Treater' from East Greenbush found a needle in a Twix candy bar she collected Sunday evening.

East Greenbush Police are asking for your help, especially if you live or were 'Trick-Or-Treating' on or around these East Greenbush streets:

East Greenbush police indicate that the 14-year-old was 'Trick-Or-Treating' between 5:45 and 8:45pm. Once she bit into the candy the needle was discovered. No injuries have been reported from this incident.

ABC News 10 reported Monday that needles and pins were reported in Halloween candy in Gloversville and Hoosick Falls as well. Parents are encouraged to closely inspect any candy that was collected while 'Trick-Or-Treating'.

Outside of New York USA Today reports that parents of a child from Ohio found a sewing needle planted inside a KitKat bar they received. That was followed by a second call about another sewing needle found in a bag of Sour Patch Kids.

We have heard this story for years but much of the time I believed it was urban legend. Who would do something like this? Is it a candy factory mistake? Is someone in our towns, one of our neighbors purposely trying to hurt our children? Or is it a hoax?
