‘OMG’ New Words Added to the Oxford English Dictionary

On March 24th, the Oxford English Dictionary confirmed the additions to the book.
Now I can say "OMG, Look at that muffin top! LOL' without being grammatically incorrect.  Actually, I have no idea how to use punctuation in association with the initialisms.

I really don't think it's necessary to add 'OMG' and 'LOL' as words. Clearly, they are terms we use online and on our phones because we're too lazy to type out the whole word. I would never write a paper with those words in them or use them in a conversation willingly.

Don't even get me started on the term 'muffin top.' Clearly, no one is talking about baking when they use that term these days. I think it's pretty funny because I had an English teacher in high school that defined the term for girls that chose to disobey the dress code. Unfortunately, some girls could not take a joke, and my teacher had to withhold on her sarcastic jokes. I'm not by any means an angel, and I'm sure some of my outfits would make her "wall of shame" list. Aside from that rant, a couple years from now, that slang term may be out of date, so why are we adding it to the dictionary?

For Urban Dictionary, it makes purpose sense for those terms to be in. I feel it represents our language being in the Oxford English Dictionary. Does that mean 'DTF' is going to the dictionary next? If you don't watch Jersey Shore, you may not know what it means. I'll let you find out for yourself. I dare you to Google it. 'LOL'
